The Web Design Checklist

My last article, the UX Design Checklist, generated a lot of buzz. 12,000+ views on Medium and 37 messages in my inbox. It makes us super happy to see our best practices at Ryte helping other designers move the needle — thank you so much!

Apart from all the positive feedback, there was one problem with the UX Design checklist. It’s very tool-focused, which is why many of you asked if we can share our best practices for creating new landing pages or web projects.

We hadn’t yet formalized our best practices for that. We thought about it and there wasn’t an actual reason for that. We learned a lot throughout the years and there is a lot we keep in mind when we build a new landing page.

That’s why we’ve locked the design team into the cellar to brainstorm everything that we normally do when creating a new web page. The result was an enormous list with 67 items.

We’ve reduced it as much as possible, cut out all similar items and gathered feedback from other UX/UI experts. We ended up with a comprehensive 9-point-checklist so we can have a clear guide for every new landing page or website we build.

If you are a developer looking for a technical website or SEO checklist, this one probably isn’t for you (psst, our Marketing team has created a cool guide for that in cooperation with HubSpot). Otherwise, if you are looking for a way to create higher-converting and more successful websites, this one’s for you! We would love to hear about your experiences with this checklist and if, or how, it improved your design!
